Nonprofits & Churches

Your mission is bigger than your back office. Your books shouldn't hold it back.

Between restricted grants, designated gifts, program expenses, and a board that wants clean numbers on a schedule, nonprofit bookkeeping is a whole discipline of its own. We handle it so you can get back to the work that actually matters.

Founder · CPA

Hi, I'm Eliza.

CPA. Big 4 firm. Fortune 500. Now I do your books.

I started my career at a Big 4 accounting firm and went on to a Fortune 500 company. Everything documented, everything reconciled, everything reviewed.

Then I'd talk to friends running small businesses and realized that what felt straightforward to me was the thing they dreaded most. Not because they were bad at business, but because bookkeeping wasn't their expertise.

I started Peace of Mind so small business owners could stop worrying about their books and get back to what they do best.

Know which programs are funded. Know which ones are bleeding.

Every month, a clean statement of activities with income and expenses broken out by program, by fund, and by functional category. Which programs are covering their costs, which ones are running on reserves, and where your admin and fundraising ratios actually land. No more guessing before the next board meeting.

Restricted funds stay restricted. Designated gifts land where the donor said.

Every grant, every designated gift, every pass-through contribution gets tracked against its purpose. Restricted and unrestricted net assets separated cleanly. Releases from restriction documented as the work is done. Grant spending tied back to the award so reporting to the funder is a pull, not a reconstruction.

Form 990 ready before the extension deadline. Not the night before.

Functional expense allocation done during the year, not recreated in April. Clean statement of activities, statement of financial position, and functional expense schedule in your tax preparer's hands with weeks to spare. We don't file your 990. We deliver the books the person filing it needs.

How It Works

We Talk

A quick conversation. No homework beforehand. Tell Eliza where things stand and what’s been piling up. Behind on months? She’s seen worse. You’ll hang up with a clear picture of what happens next.

We Take Over

We connect to your accounts and take it from there. We handle everything without pulling you back in. If we ever need something, you get one clear question, not a vague to-do list.

You Stop Thinking About It

Every month, a clean report lands in your inbox. Not jargon. Just enough that you actually know where you stand.

That's the whole job. No surprises, no drama. Just your numbers, done.

Made for Nonprofits & Churches

On nonprofits & churches.

Your industry isn’t a template.

So we don’t treat it like one. We built a practice around the specific, inconvenient, easily-missed parts of how your business actually runs.

Everything you need to know

Honest answers to the things people actually ask before signing on.

Do you file Form 990 for us?
No. We're a bookkeeping service, so we don't file tax returns of any kind, including Form 990, 990-EZ, or 990-N. What we do is deliver a clean statement of activities, statement of financial position, and a functional expense schedule so whoever files your 990 has everything they need. That's the bookkeeping side of 990 prep, done right, on time.
How do you handle restricted versus unrestricted funds?
We set up your chart of accounts so restricted and unrestricted net assets are tracked separately from day one. Every grant and designated gift is coded to its fund. As the work happens, releases from restriction are recorded against the right program. When the board asks how much of your cash is actually spendable, you'll have a real answer.
We got our first big grant and the funder wants spending reports. Can you help?
Yes. We track grant spending against the award, by budget line, as expenses come in. When the funder asks for a report, we can pull what they need without having to reconstruct a year of transactions. If you're already mid-grant and behind on reporting, catch-up bookkeeping can get you current.
What kind of financials do you produce for our board?
Every month you get a statement of activities, a statement of financial position, and a functional expense breakdown across program, management, and fundraising. On request, we can add program-level P&Ls and fund-level summaries. Board treasurers tend to like seeing the same package on the same schedule every month. That's what we deliver.
We're a small church with volunteer bookkeepers and things have drifted. Can you clean it up?
Yes. Catch-up work is a normal part of what we do. A common pattern is designated gifts and building funds that weren't separated, reimbursements coded as expenses twice, and no real distinction between restricted and unrestricted cash. We reconstruct from bank statements and giving records, separate the funds, and hand you clean books going forward.
What's included in the flat rate, and who's it for?

Every month:

  • All accounts reconciled
  • Transactions categorized in QBO
  • Monthly P&L and Balance Sheet
  • Plain-English summary
  • Year-end export for your tax preparer
  • Email replies within 1 business day
  • Books closed by the 15th

Onboarding (one-time, included):

  • Chart of accounts built for your industry
  • QBO setup or migration

The flat rate fits you if:

  • Cash-basis accounting
  • Under 200 transactions/month
  • You use QuickBooks Online (or will)
  • No inventory tracking
  • You handle invoicing and AR
  • You handle bill pay and AP
  • Payroll handled elsewhere
  • Single entity, US-based

My books are a mess. Like, really bad. Can you still help?
Yes. This is actually the most common situation we see. Whether you're a few months behind or a few years behind, we do catch-up bookkeeping to get everything cleaned up and current. It's a normal part of what we do.
You only do bookkeeping. What about my taxes and payroll?
Bookkeeping is the daily and monthly recordkeeping that makes taxes, payroll, and everything else possible. We know exactly where our lane ends. Your books will be in perfect shape when your tax preparer needs them.
I already use QuickBooks. Do I need to switch anything?
Nope. We're QuickBooks Online ProAdvisor certified and that's what most of our clients use. If you're on Xero or something else, we can work with that too. If you're not on any platform yet, we'll get you set up.
Can I really afford a bookkeeper?
One flat rate: $250/month for our next 20 clients, $300/month after that. Most business owners spend 5-10 hours a month on bookkeeping they're not good at. How much is your time worth? On top of that, clean books mean fewer missed deductions and lower tax prep fees. For most clients, the service pays for itself.
How is this different from the bookkeeper my friend recommended?
There are good bookkeepers out there. The difference here is experience and standards. Your bookkeeper is a certified public accountant trained at a Big 4 accounting firm and a Fortune 500 company. That means systems, rigor, and processes that most small business bookkeepers have never been exposed to. You get that same level of attention to detail applied to your business.
How long does it take to get started?
Setup is fast. Once we connect to your accounts, most clients are up and running within a couple of weeks. If your books need catch-up work, we'll give you a clear timeline and price before we start.
